The Eagles have not played on Halloween since 2004 when they beat the Baltimore Ravens. Philadelphia hopes for plenty of treats – and very few tricks – when it meets Detroit. Just like the Eagles, the Lions are working with a new coaching staff led by Dan Campbell. And for the first time in over a decade, Matthew Stafford is not the starting quarterback. The Lions traded Stafford to the Rams this offseason and acquired veteran quarterback Jared Goff as part of the trade package. Philadelphia is looking to avoid a three-game losing streak, while Detroit is in search of its first win of the year. Kickoff is set for 1 PM this Sunday. No matter where you are, you can follow the action. Here’s how:

The Philadelphia Eagles are flying under the radar but still picking up a lot of smoke towards the 2022 season.

This especially after making some key moves to their roster to make them not only a rush-friendly offense but to finally give QB Jalen Hurts a top-caliber second option at receiver aside from 2nd-year player DeVonta Smith, by bringing in former Titans No.1 receiver A.J. Brown.

The Lions on the other hand is a team with as much potential talent as they have had losing seasons, meaning that it’s a whole lot. Their core of up-and-coming players, who they have taken through some very good draft moves, are slowly making Detroit a team to watch for, but in a couple of years, not right now.

As we gear up for their week 1 matchup, let’s take it back to Halloween 2021, when they last met on the field to try and have an idea of what we can expect.

Last season the Eagles were a team that went through a night and day turnaround that saw them go from a squad about to implode to becoming one of the best rush-driven offenses in the league, putting the NFC on notice for quite some time, especially after the lousy season they initially started with.

On Halloween, 2021, the Eagles put their rushing attack to the test, even without having their star RB Myles Sanders available to play, as they squared up against the always physical and rough Lions at Ford Field in Detroit.

Thanksgiving brought a bounty of football dominance for the Detroit Lions, who dominated the Philadelphia Eagles in a 45-14 rout.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford passed for 337 yards and five touchdowns. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson caught three of those touchdowns.

Mark Sanchez and the Eagles’ offense did very little, and the Philadelphia defense did even less. The end result was a comfortable blowout win for the Lions to kick off Week 12 of the 2015 NFL season.

The Philadelphia Eagles are favored to win for the first time this season. They are staying on the road Sunday to face off against the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. ET on Oct. 31 at Ford Field. Goff ended up with a passer rating of 121.70.

Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 13. K Austin Seibert delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.

The Eagles are the favorite in this one, with an expected 3.5-point margin of victory. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with Philadelphia, who are 3-4 against the spread.

Philadelphia was close but no cigar when the teams previously met two seasons ago as they fell 27-24 to Detroit. We’ll soon find out.
